Prospecting - Are You a Person of Action?

E-mail Print PDF

Are you a person of action? Or are you the type that plans and plans until there is no time left for action? Perhaps you are paralyzed by fear. I am here to tell you that it is time to take action. It doesn't matter what action you take, so long as you start. I recommend starting with action that faces your fears.

Are you afraid to call your prospects on the phone? Pick up the phone and dial. It is the ONLY way to get past this fear. View each call you make as practice for your pearl-in-waiting. With each call you make, your skills improve. You get the opportunity to fail forward. You get the opportunity to make your mistakes on your practice calls. In fact, spend a little money buying some cheap leads to practice on. Most importantly, maintain your posture and have fun. Believe in what you're doing and it will show.

Are you afraid to share your opportunity with your friends? Ask them for their help in giving you their honest opinion of your product. Ask them if you can practice on them. Then you can follow-up with them by asking them if they know anyone looking to make additional money helping people. Good friends will want to help you. Even if they are not interested, they may know someone who is.

Are you afraid to approach strangers or your luke-warm market? Well then, find a way to get them to approach you. Wear your colors: wear a button, wear a t-shirt, wear a hat, or publicly use your products. Once you have their attention, see if you can find a need.

These are some simple ways to take action in three of the most common fears in our business. The only way to overcome fear is to face it by taking action. Walk towards your goals. As Nike would say, "Just Do It!"

Images of the Day

A Chameleon Sky
NASA Image Of The Day
The sands of time are running out for the central star of this the Hourglass Nebula. With its nuclear fuel exhausted, this brief, spectacular, closing phase of a sun-like star's life occurs as its outer layers are ejected and its core becomes a cooling, fading white dwarf. In 1995, astronomers used the Hubble Space Telescope to make a series of images of planetary nebulae, including the one above. Here, delicate rings of colorful glowing gas (nitrogen-red, hydrogen-green, and oxygen-blue) outline the tenuous walls of the 'hourglass.' The unprecedented sharpness of Hubble's images revealed surprising details of the nebula ejection process and may resolve the outstanding mystery of the variety of complex shapes and symmetries of planetary nebulae.
